White Plains, NY – April 23, 2018 – The YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester (YMCA-CNW) announced today that it has made the decision to list its building on Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains for sale. The YMCA expects to continue to operate at the location for the entire length of the process (estimated to be at least 18-24 month) and then move to a non-facility YMCA model, which leverages other non-YMCA owned locations to bring existing and new services to its members.
“Given the unsustainable costs of maintaining this aging building, we felt this was our best option to continue offering our many services to our valued members. Over the last 4 years, we have invested more than $1 million dollars in this aging infrastructure. These funds would be better spent bringing vital services to our community at various locations throughout our service area,” said Cynthia Rubino, President & CEO of the YMCA of Central & Northern Westchester.
The new, non-facility model for the YMCA-CNW allows the organization to maintain and reinvest in existing services, and expand and grow its programs to serve additional communities. The goal of the program is to extend the impact of the YMCA in pursuit of its mission – to enrich each and every life through a unique, dynamic combination of programs that strengthens spirit, mind and body.
The YMCA is seeking program partners as it moves to this new model. Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility programs are at the heart of the YMCA-CNW mission. To discuss opportunities to partner in Westchester County, please contact – (914) 287-2021.
